A HUMAN : SHIRO TSUJIMURA/CERAMIC ARTIST

“It’s not how you make it,
but how you live it.”

Shiro Tsujimura is one of Japan’s leading contemporary ceramic artists. Completely self-taught, his incomparable work, which follows the historical techniques found in traditional Japanese and Korean styles, continues to attract VIPs from all over the world, including Hollywood stars and art collectors.

These pure words, which seem to question the very foundations of the philosophy of craftsmanship, show the depth of his capacity as a human being before he is an artist. Distant from the flow of time, which passes at an incredibly fast pace, Tsujimura lives his life as it is, surrendering himself to nature in his studio, which he built himself more than 40 years ago deep in the mountains of Nara.

Shiro Tsujimura’s way of life and philosophy will remind us of the essence of values that have long since been forgotten.
